The EurOMA Early Career Workshop is targeted at emerging Operations & Supply Chain Management (O&SCM) academics in general and alumni of the EurOMA Doctoral Seminar.
This workshop was conceived as a way to support the career development of early career scholars in the O&SCM field by acknowledging and targeting some of the major priorities, challenges and trade-offs that they face. The aim is to facilitate open discussion, guided by experienced academics, and offer practical advice which also addresses some of the skills gaps that have been identified by scholars early in their career. Themes covered can include supervising Doctoral & Master level students, managing academic leadership and service, teaching and pedagogical innovation in O&SCM, and, funding your research and enhancing its impact. At the same time, the workshop aims to develop the community of early career O&SCM scholars and strengthen the O&SCM community. One theme will form the basis of the workshop each year.
For the 2025 Conference...
For the 2025 conference, the theme is “Funding your research and enhancing its impact”.
Specifically, this session will explore the competitive funding environment and examine practical strategies for identifying funding sources, writing compelling grant proposals, and broadening the reach of your findings.
The workshop integrates insights from renowned academics with a background in O&SCM, in different stages of their careers, from different countries, following different career paths, and representing different genders. It endeavours to be interactive with participants receiving tangible take-aways. Of course, there will be ample networking opportunities, one of the key overall objectives of the Early Career Workshop.
The number of participants is limited to 30 people. The target group of the workshop is early career O&SCM academics who aim at a continued academic career. Priority is given to EurOMA Doctoral Seminar alumni. At least two years of involvement in academic job activities is required, e.g., supervising and teaching, apart from the applicant’s own PhD research project. The 2025 workshop is open to EurOMA members participating in the 2025 annual conference, who have presented their PhD thesis in or after 2020.
The Early Career Workshop will run on Sunday 15th June 2025 (8:30 – 12:30) at Politecnico di Milano (campus Bovisa) (further details on location will follow).
